24-year-old arrested on rape charge

A 22-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour on Thursday evening. DSP (east) Vijay Kumar said the woman, who is a resident of Darua village, complained that Shahid, 24, who lives on the first floor of the house she stays in, raped her.

DSP (east) Vijay Kumar said the woman, who is a resident of Darua village, complained that Shahid, 24, who lives on the first floor of the house she stays in, raped her. She told the police that the incident took place when she went upstairs to pick her clothes which were put out for drying. The woman alleged that Shahid pushed her in his room and raped her.

The woman claimed that she was alone in the house when the crime took place. Both she and Shahid work as labourers in the industrial area.

Acting on the complaint of the woman, the police have registered a case under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 376 (rape) of the IPC at the Industrial Area police station. The accused Shahid has been arrested.
