Chandigarh: Expect rain today, drier days ahead

About 10.7 mm of rainfall in the city triggered traffic jams on several roads in the tricity on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Friday, after which the days ahead are expected to be drier. A yellow alert, the second-lowest of the IMD’s four colour-coded weather warnings, indicates the possibility of moderate rainfall.

From Saturday onwards, temperatures are expected to gradually rise, with the maximum temperature increasing from 33°C on Saturday to 35°C by Monday, while the minimum temperature is likely to remain between 26°C and 27°C over the next four days.
Meanwhile, the city’s maximum temperature on Thursday settled at 31.4°C, which was 2°C below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 25°C, 1.7°C below normal.
During the rain, a long traffic queue formed near the dividing road between Sectors 32 and 33. The situation was no different on and around Vikas Marg and Dakshin Marg, especially in the afternoon hours.
