: A class 10 student of a convent school in Panipat died mysteriously during sports meet on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Daksh Kumar, 14, of Seenk village in Panipat district. As per information, Daksh had participated in a running competition during the sports meet in the school. He suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police said that they have initiated probe under Section 174 of the CrPC and the body of the boy has been handed over to family members after postmortem.

Haryana CID’s bomb detection team 2nd in counter IED exercise

Chandigarh : The bomb detection and disposal team of Haryana Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has bagged second place in the national counter improvised explosive devices exercise organised at National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Manesar, Gurugram. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), CID, Alok Mittal said that the six-day long national counter IED exercise which concluded on November 26 was held to test the counter IED capabilities of state and central police forces. “Eight police teams from Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Border Security Force and Assam Rifles participated in the exercise. BSF bagged the first place followed by Haryana at number two and Rajasthan at the third place,’’ he said. Haryana CID’s 17-member team was led by senior scientific officer, CID, Anita Sharma.

Haryana govt to prepare district water resources plans

Chandigarh : The Haryana government will prepare district water resources plans for ensuring optimal use of water, groundwater recharge, surface water augmentation and enhanced use of treated waste water. Haryana Water Resources Authority (HWRA), chairperson, Keshni Anand Arora who held a meeting on Saturday with the deputy commissioners of Ambala, Bhiwani, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Sonepat and Yamunanagar to review the districts’ water resources plan 2022-25. He said the district plans are being prepared with a collaborative interdepartmental approach with the technical guidance and support of the authority. The DCs presented their respective district water gap, water availability challenges and corresponding action plan to reduce water gap in water-depleted areas as well as reclaim waterlogged and saline-affected areas by 45% in the next three years (10 % in 1st year, 15% in 2nd year, and 20 % in 3rd year). This is the first of its kind initiative in the entire country where an integrated block-level water planning and strategy is being formulated.

Hooda pays tributes to his father and freedom fighter Chaudhary Ranbir Singh

Rohtak : Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday paid tributes to his father and freedom fighter Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Hooda at his memorial here. Hooda also congratulated the citizens on the occasion of Constitution Day. Hooda also reached the Maharishi Dayanand University campus, where he offered tributes to his father, Ranbir Singh and Dr BR Ambedkar. He also participated in a photo exhibition organised in the university campus. Speaking on the occasion, Hooda said he is feeling proud that his father was imprisoned in 8 different British jails during the struggle for the freedom of the country. Of these, 4 jails are in India today and 4 in Pakistan.
