Underlining that Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s joining had exposed Akali’s proximity to the BJP, transport minister Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday said it won’t be a surprise if SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia follows suit and joins the BJP soon.
Warring, who was in Kharar to lay the foundation stone of the modern bus stand, claimed that Majithia would break the news of joining the BJP anytime.
While reacting to AAP “theatrics”, he claimed that the entire opposition was rattled. Taking a potshot at Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, he said leaders like him were constrained to orchestrate inspection of a toilet at a school.
Urging people to give the Congress power to keep serving Punjab in 2022, Warring said the entire world was talking about Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s work in two months.
Almost 400 buses, including 70 of Badals, had been impounded, Warring said, adding that anyone flouting norms would not be spared at any cost.
Lays stone of ₹6.5-cr bus stand
Giving a major fillip to the infrastructure in the region, Warring laid the foundation stone of the modern bus stand to be built here at a cost of ₹6.57 crore. The upcoming hi-tech bus stand will be equipped with all modern amenities. It will be developed on a 16 kanal land of the panchayat samiti in the heart of the city.
“The chief minister had shared with me that he had once travelled to Kharar by bus to join an agitation and at that time buses did not stop at Kharar. He had then decided to ensure that the city gets a proper bus stand,” he said.
Warring assured shopkeepers that nobody’s business would be impacted and they would be suitably accommodated in the upcoming complex.
Dr Manohar Singh, younger brother of the chief minister, said the construction of the bus stand in Kharar had been the dream project of the chief minister.
He mentioned that the chief minister had recently laid the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art modern model school to be set up in an area of 5 acres at Badali village, an English medium school where around 5,000 students would be imparted quality education.
