DTCP notice to 350 more house owners for running business units in Ggm

The enforcement wing of the DTCP in Gurugram has issued over 350 show cause notices to property owners for allowing illegal commercial establishments in their properties. In total, 700 notices have been issued in the past month. The department is identifying residential premises with the help of survey teams and plans to take strict action against violators.

Gurugram: Continuing its drive against illegal commercial establishments in private licenced colonies, the enforcement wing of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) issued over 350 show cause notices to property owners on Friday and Saturday for allowing such units in their properties.

DTCP officials said overall, 700 notices have been issued to violators in the last one month, who were operating commercial units from their houses.

Manish Yadav, district town planner (enforcement), said that commercial activities in residential areas will not be allowed, and they are identifying the residential premises with the help of survey teams. He said that the ongoing survey to track violators began in the first week of July.

Officials said three teams were constituted by the DTCP after directions were issued by TL Satyaprakash, director general, town and country planning, who said that commercial activities should be strictly curbed in all residential areas of Gurugram.

“We have issued around 700 show cause notices till date to owners of residential premises which have commercial units running in violation of rules. Around 19 units have been sealed and by the end of this month, 200 more such houses will face action. We have also recommended that electricity and water connections of such houses should be disconnected immediately,” said Yadav.

Yadav said that apart from causing heavy congestion and traffic jams in residential areas, commercial establishments put heavy pressure on the existing power, water and sewage lines.

“The department has received a large number of complaints from residents of private colonies due to problems created by these commercial establishments,” Yadav added.

Officials said show cause notices have been issued to house owners in areas such as DLF Phase I to V, Sushant Lok Phase I, II and III, South City I and II, Uppal South End, Vipul World and Palam Vihar.

DTCP officials said the survey being carried out by the department teams is ongoing and they are issuing notices as soon as information of violations is received. They also said that due to the prevailing law and order situation in the aftermath of the Nuh communal violence, the sealing drive lost a bit of pace. They added that once the situation normalises, the department will take stringent action against violators.
