Power outage in Mumbai's posh Bandra locality; Santa Cruz, Khar hit too
Khar, Santacruz and Mumbai's posh Bandra locality in Mumbai faced power outages on Wednesday night.
Several parts of Mumbai, including Khar, Santacruz and posh Bandra locality, faced power outages on Wednesday night. The outages were reported from the city's western suburbs. The power outage occurred due to a technical snag in the power distribution system. It will take some more time to restore the power supply, officials told HT.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers in pockets of Santacruz and Khar West. The interruption due to cable faults was restored to a majority of customers within 30 minutes by tireless efforts our power Warriors. Due care was taken to ensure no interruption is faced by critical establishments,” an Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd spokesperson said.
In April, last year, electricity supply in parts of Mumbai and adjoining areas - including Thane, Mulund, Ambarnath, Badlapur and Dombivali – was affected due to tripping in the 400KV sub-station at Padgha.
There was a small explosion at the station but the power supply was restored slowly.
In May, many pockets of the financial capital of the country plunged into darkness in a power outage caused by what was termed as a “technical fault”. The outage came amid a series of disruptions in power supply faced by the city amid a severe shortage of electricity that forced the state discom MSEDCL to initiate load-shedding in several parts of Maharashtra.
Suburbs such as Bandra, Santa Cruz, Khar, Kurla and Chembur, and at Dadar in central Mumbai reported the outage for over 15 minutes. Power outages were reported in parts of Wadala, Sion and Dharavi.
