A truck driver was injured after two goods trucks collided near Waki village on the Pune-Nashik Highway in Khed taluka on Wednesday morning, triggering a massive traffic jam on the busy stretch.

The accident occurred around 6.30 am near Waki Khurd village. According to police, a container truck travelling from Pune towards Nashik skidded on the rain-soaked road, jumped the median after the driver lost control and collided with an oncoming truck.
Jitendra Kadam, SPI at Chakan North police station, said, “The impact of the collision caused one of the trucks to veer off the road and overturn onto a car parked below, creating panic among motorists. The injured were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment. No fatalities had been reported till the time of filing this report.”
The accident led to long queues of vehicles on the Pune-bound carriageway as police and highway authorities carried out rescue and clearance operations. Traffic movement resumed gradually after the damaged vehicles were removed.
Based on a complaint, police registered a case against container truck driver Mohamad Esud (37), a resident of Rajasthan, and are investigating the cause of the accident.
