Two private universities approved in Nagpur, Ahilyanagar

Pune: The Maharashtra cabinet on Monday approved the establishment of two private health sciences universities — Lata Mangeshkar University in Nagpur and Balasaheb Vikhe Patil University in Ahilyanagar.

The Lata Mangeshkar University of VSPM Academy of Higher Education will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and super-speciality programmes in medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy and nursing. It has a 1,138-bed hospital.

Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Balasaheb Vikhe Patil University will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and super-speciality programmes in the medical stream. The institution has an 830-bed hospital.

The proposals were scrutinised and verified by an inspection committee in accordance with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
