Stuart Broad terms Brydon Carse “daft” after another nightclub incident rocks English cricket.
Former England pacer Stuart Broad didn't mince his words as he termed Brydon Carse “daft” after he was arrested recently following a nightclub incident. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are currently investigating the matter, and nothing concrete has been put in the public domain. However, the speedster continues to face flak for making such a mistake when he remains a part of the Test squad for the upcoming second Test against Pakistan at Lord's.
Several videos went viral on social media on Sunday, in which Carse was seen being escorted away in handcuffs by police officers. The development came just days before the second Test between England and Pakistan. It is worth noting that the pacer was not involved in the team’s on-field proceedings during the opening match of the series, which the Three Lions won by an innings and 103 runs.
The ECB have yet to confirm whether Carse remains part of the squad for the second Test. Carse, being handcuffed, also came days after England captain Joe Root spoke about the importance of players setting the right example. Root had described the England squad as being made up of really good role models and human beings following a series of off-field incidents and allegations surrounding the team.
Speaking about the matter, Broad said that Carse should have acted more responsibly, knowing he was a part of the Test squad.
“You have seen the video, you can't tell anything from it, so we can't really make a judgment. But whatever has really happened, is pretty daft. When you are in the Test squad, yes, you haven't played, but it's pretty daft,” Broad said on the ‘For the Love of Cricket Podcast’.
“We will wait and see what happens. It could be 10 o'clock in the evening or 2 in the morning. Whatever. It's not really anything that anyone wants to be talking about, to be brutally honest,” he added.

The Carse incident once again places renewed attention on England’s conduct away from the cricket field. During England’s tours to New Zealand and Australia, Harry Brook was fined 30,000 euros following an altercation with a bouncer in Wellington. There were also reports concerning alcohol consumption during a break from the Ashes campaign in Noosa.
The team then encountered another disciplinary issue during the summer when Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson breached a team curfew. Both players were subsequently left out of England’s second Test against New Zealand at The Oval.
Speaking of Carse, he has also previously faced disciplinary action in cricket. In 2024, he was handed a three-month suspension from the sport over historic betting offences. The punishment related to bets placed before he established himself as an England international.
