India vs Australia Highlights 4th Test, Day 4: Kohli's 186 takes IND to 571, AUS 3/0 at Stumps and trail by 88 runs

A good length delivery by Green, on fifth stump. Kohli taps it on the front foot, goes past cover point to sweeper for a single.

The pitch looks same as yesterday. There are not many footmarks and it hasn't really opened up yet. Also, the cracks haven't opened up. The conditions seem good for batting, and the Aussie bowlers have to grind. Smith will be relying on his spinners a lot.

Kohli and Jadeja enter the field to resume batting for India. The Aussies also are on the field and Green will bowl the first over of Day 4.

The sun is burning in Ahmedabad today, and it is a overcast, hazy day. It will be most cloudy and very warm during the match, and the temperature is expected to be between 33-37 degrees Celsius.

Ex-Aussie player Hayden hailed Kohli's display on Day 3. The former player said, "What I liked to see was, Virat Kohli was very animated at Shubman Gill's success and that gives some insight into the individual that is Virat Kohli as well. He is not thinking about himself while being under pressure. It was a nice moment."

"I was curious to see how he would maintain that fight. He had to really put up a great battle, didn't he, right ahead of the tea break. A really awkward four or five balls. And then after tea, he took control, set himself little targets. Really good half century, well deserved", he added.

For the firs tine in the ongoing series, a match has extended to Day 4. India are still 191 runs behind Australia, but are cruising towards a stronger score and to snatched the lead. If they put in a good batting show, then we could see Australia bat their third innings on Day 5, with a significant deficit to overcome.

Ashwin took his six-wicket hual on Day 2 and was critical of India's performance, praising Aussie batters. "I hope you tuned into the IPL auction. It just tells you how the Indian cricket fraternity rates Cameron Green. think he is a fantastic player. Just the raw material he has, tall, lovely levers, good batting sense, can hit the deck hard while bowling, moves pretty well; these are once-in-a-generation cricketer that you are talking about," he said.

"However, we come from different countries, India is very different. We can't protect such players for longer periods of time. It is perform or perish (in India). In countries like Australia and England, these cricketers are groomed pretty well. Expect Cameron Green to be a wonderful cricketer down the line", he further added.

Jadeja will resume batting at 16 runs off 54 balls. He will be hoping to build a partnership with Kohli and try getting his 19th Test fifty and then build on that.

In 17 over, Starc has taken 0 wickets and bagged two maidens, with Cameron Green conceding 45 runs in 10 overs, without any maidens. Meanwhile Lyon has bagged a dismissal in 37 overs, with four maidens. Matthew Kuhnemann has taken a wicket in 13 overs, conceding 43 runs, with Murphy also taking a dismissal in 22 overs, to concede 45 runs.

On Day 3, Kohli surpassed West Indies legend =Lara to become the second-highest scorer against Australia in international cricket. In 89 matches and 104 innings, the 34-year-old has scored 4729 runs at an average of 50.84. He has scored 15 centuries and 24 fifties against the Aussies, with the best individual score of 169. Lara on the other hand had scored 4714 runs in 82 matches and 108 innings against Australia with 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries against them. His highest score against them is 277 which he made at the SCG in a drawn Test match in 1993.

Gill got his second Test ton on Day 3, slamming 128 off 235 balls, packed with 12 fours and a six. After Stumps, he said, "It feels great to score a hundred here. This is my IPL home ground and glad to get some runs here. The pitch was pretty good to bat on. Anything happening off the pitch was off the rough area. I was looking to pick singles whenever possible."

"Honestly, I was still trying to be positive and was keep looking for singles. They weren't attacking that much. We are three down for almost 300. We would look to get a big score on day 4. Who knows the wicket might help our bowlers on day 5", he further added.

On Day 3, Kohli became the fifth Indian batter to reach the 4000-run mark in Tests, on Indian soil. He also bagged a Test half-century after 14 matches, his last fifty came against South Africa in January 2022. The former captain will be hoping to get to his 28th Test ton and pile up the pressure for Australia. On Day 3, Shubman Gill slammed his second Test ton, which helped India post 289/3 at Stumps. India still trail by 191 runs.
