What an innings by Mukul Choudhary!

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants Highlights, IPL 2026: With 54 runs needed off 24 balls and just three wickets in hand, nobody gave LSG a chance but Mukul Choudhary scored a 27-ball 54 not out to stun KKR. He hit seven big sixes in his innings as LSG won off the last ball by three wickets. Vaibhav Arora needed to defend 13 off the last over and even though he did well with wide yorkers, he couldn't stop Mukul. His strategy was quite simple. Ajinkya Rahane was gracious in defeat. “Tough one to take. Really proud of the boys, the way we played. Mukul's knock was defining. The way he played his shots, in games like this, you do not want to pinpoint too many things. Execution here and there can happen, but credit to Mukul and that partnership,” the KKR captain said.

No prizes for guessing as to who won the Man-of-the-Match award! It's of course Mukul Choudhary. Ayush Badoni should also get some credit for his fifty. It was his seventh in the IPL.

Mukul shed light on his journey. “Even before my dad got married, it was his dream that his son would play cricket. Financial condition was not very good at the start. Began playing at 12-13 years. There were not a lot of academies (in Jhunjhunu) and then I moved to Jaipur. I saw how much T20 cricket is growing, so I moved to Gurgaon and stayed there for 3-4 months. My dad tells me there was an U-19 match against UP. It was a low-scoring match but I scored runs and that is when he knew I would make it big,” he said.

Great start by LSG before impact sub Vaibhav Arora sends back Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh in the space of just three balls, in the fifth over. Spinners Anukul Roy and Sunil Narine have featured in the powerplay at the end of which LSG are 56/2. Ayush Badoni and Rishabh Pant get into repair work now.

KKR 181/4. Fantastic last two overs by LSG, by Shami and Prince. But KKR should be happy with this target. At one point, they were in the doldrums. Powell unbeaten on 39, Green on 32. Green was not in his element but considering the flak he had received in the last few days, he didn't fare too badly. Hope now he will bowl too. That will be the end of some criticism, for sure. Rinku Singh disappoints. He goes for 4. Avesh Khan is just too good for him. The ball nips back and castles the left-hander. Power coach Andre Russell's worse fears have come true now. Can Cameron Green today shine and help KKR to a competitive score?

10 overs gone. KKR 98/1 with Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi looking in great touch. Both deserve a fifty, to be honest. And it's exactly not a batting wicket. Oh no, just as we said it, Rahane is removed by Rathi for 41, and Mohd Shami takes a brilliant catch a short midwicket.

LSG have done well in the powerplay, overall. The pitch also doesn't look ideal for batting. Prince Yadav removed Finn Allen in the second over. Like Andre Russell said, KKR need to avoid losing too many wickets in the powerplay. They have succeeded to that end. Big challenge for KKR's top order, for sure. Mohammed Shami has looked great so far this season, and he will be hard to deal with.

Kolkata Knight Riders will look to register their first win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when they host Lucknow Super Giants at the iconic Eden Gardens later tonight.

Along with Chennai Super Kings, KKR have not won a single game so far this season, with the league having got underway almost two weeks back. Their previous game against Punjab Kings had been washed out, and that's how they opened their account in the points table. They were 25/2 in the fourth over at the time of the interruption, and if truth be told, not many KKR fans would have felt awfully bad about the whole rain situation.

In their first two games against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, they lost without a fight. MI chased down 221 with five balls to spare, while against SRH, they lost by 65 runs after letting the opposition put 226/8 on the board.

LSG, on the other hand, won in their previous game, against SRH. It was their first win of the season, although it wasn't a convincing one. Chasing 157 to win, they won the match with one ball to go, with captain Rishabh Pant scoring a painstaking 50-ball 68 not out. To all intents and purposes, they could have won in a better way.

In their season opener, they had lost to Delhi Capitals. They scored just 141 after being put into bat, after which DC, after being reduced to 26/4, staged a remarkable comeback to win by six wickets with 17 balls to spare.

Frankly, there is no clear favourite going into the contest today in light of their performance in their previous matches. KKR have a massive Cameron Green conundrum. After being bought for ₹25.20 crore, at present, he is nursing an injury and can't bowl, and with the bat, he has been far from convincing. Captain Ajinkya Rahane is under fire, and he is rattled by all appearances. He has tried to hit back at his detractors, but the best way to do it is with the bat and by leading his team to wins.

LSG breathed a sigh of relief after their win against SRH. Pant and owner Sanjiv Goenka have had a rollercoaster of a relationship already. Pant must be under tremendous pressure. He was brought to LSG to turn around their fortunes, but last year they finished seventh, and they haven’t inspired much confidence this season either.

The weather forecast for today has nothing alarming in nature. As far as team combinations are concerned. KKR are expecting Sunil Narine to return; however, Varun Chakaravarthy, a victim of finger injury, may again miss out tonight. As for LSG are concerned, they are likely to field the same bunch of players that beat SRH. Tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav may have to sit out again. He is yet to play this season.
