Indian captain Rohit Sharma has joined Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and batting icon Virat Kohli by achieving a spectacular feat during the series decider against Australia at Chennai. Veteran Indian opener Rohit was in a punishing mood during India's impressive run chase of the 270-run target set by Australia on Wednesday. Leading the batting charge of the Men In Blue, skipper Rohit launched an all-out attack on the Aussie bowlers at the Chepauk.

After suffering an embarrassing trounce in the penultimate clash of the three-match series, Rohit's Team India squared off against Australia led by stand-in skipper Steve Smith in the 3rd One Day International (ODI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. With Australia posting a challenging total of 269 in the 50-over contest, the onus was on skipper Rohit and opener Shubman Gill to give the hosts a promising start at Chennai.
Playing an entertaining knock against the Mitchell Starc-starrer side, Rohit laid the foundation for India as the Indian skipper took the Aussie bowlers to the cleaners. Smashing twin fours and two massive sixes, the Indian skipper reached 30 off just 17 balls in the series decider at Chennai. Interestingly, the Indian skipper scripted history with his blazing knock in international cricket. The 35-year-old became the 8th Indian batter to complete 10,000 international runs in Asia.
Rohit has joined the likes of Tendulkar, Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Sourav Ganguly on the exclusive list of Indian players with 10k international runs in Asia. The senior batter has amassed 10,026 runs out of the 247 matches that he has played in Asia. India captain Rohit has an impressive batting average of 44.16 in Asia.
Talking more about the match, skipper Rohit failed to bank on his start as the veteran opener was dismissed for 30 (17) in the 10th over of the Indian innings. India's all-format captain Rohit has amassed over 9,824 runs in 243 ODIs for India. The swashbuckling batter made his ODI debut against Ireland at the Civil Service Cricket Club in 2007. Nicknamed the Hitman, Rohit has notched up 30 centuries and 48 half-centuries for India in the 50-over format.
