A new Indian Premier League (IPL) season is always welcomed with a few many changes from each of the franchises. Some announce their new captain, few change their logo or names but most common of all has been the unveiling of new jerseys. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) unveiled their new jersey on Saturday and former captain Virat Kohli gave his verdict on the same.
The unveiling happened shortly after RCB named former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis as their new captain for the impending 2022 season of the IPL.
RCB they shared their new jersey on their Twitter handle with Du Plessis and Kohli donning the new red and gold before the 33-year-old shared a video sharing his views on the kit.
“I love the design. I love how the dark blue blends into the red and the detailing of the jersey is amazing. I love the new RCB typeface as well and the integration of the RCB lion. The material is so comfortable I absolutely love it and the moment I wore it, I felt something special. I can definitely say, this is my most favourite RCB jersey, ever!” he said.
Kohli had earlier stepped down from the captain role of RCB after leading the team in 140 matches with 64 wins and 69 losses.
Du Plessis, who was roped in for INR 7 crore in the mega auction last month, had emerged as the frontrunner amid the presence of Glenn Maxwell, who was retained, and Dinesh Karthik, who as well joined the team for INR 5.5 in the auction. Ther former Chennai Super Kings star was eventually unvieled as RCB's new captain during an event in Bengaluru on Saturday.
"Coming in as an outsider, I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity," du Plessis said in Bengaluru. "It's no small thing to trust an outsider, an overseas player to do the job as a leader leader. My style in doing that is not going to be 'my way'. I will rely heavily on amazing experience of our domestic and international players.
