Two deaths in Delhi metro stations in 24 hours
A 56-year-old man jumped in front of a metro train at the Janakpuri West metro station on Thursday and another jumped on the road from the Jhandenwalan metro station
A 56-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at the Janakpuri West metro station on Thursday.

The man, Deshraj Chawla, was a resident of Vikaspuri area in west Delhi. He had entered the station at 3:15 pm and was seen roaming around the platform for a while.
At 3:35 pm, the station’s CCTV cameras showed him jumping from platform number two in front of the train. The footage showed that the train driver immediately applied the brakes but Chawla couldn’t be saved.
Police found a suicide note found from his pocket in which he had written he was ending his life because of depression. Chawla’s family has been informed about the incident.
In another incident, a 35-year-old man ended his life after he jumped on the road from the Jhandenwalan metro station around 9 am on Wednesday. The man who is yet to be identified jumped from platform one on the road.
Police officials said the man was differently abled. He was seen moving around the platform for a while after which he crossed over the railings and leapt from the station. He was rushed to a hospital where he died.
