who was killed in the terrorist attack on the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai, was cremated in New Delhi on Sunday.
The funeral was at the Lodhi Road crematorium. A large number of people — including journalists, businessmen and others — came to pay their last respects. Social activist Nafisa Ali, beauty expert Shahnaz Husain, actor Nandita Das and industrialist and MP Naveen Jindal were among those who came.
Consulting editor and resident food critic with the Times of India, Sabina was in Mumbai for a wedding reception but returned to her room in the Taj early from the function, complaining of fatigue.
The body was flown back to the capital on Saturday night and brought to her home in south Delhi.
She is survived by husband Shantanu, son Anirudha and daughter Arundhati.
On the second day of the attack, Sabina had sent a text message to her husband saying “they (terrorists) are in the bathroom.” That was the last her husband heard from her.
