In the past three years that Atif has been in Delhi I didn’t get a single complaint against him.

He lived on his own but would come home to meet me every third day. I am sure that he did not step out of town in the past seven months. I don’t understand how the police are claiming he was present in Ahmedabad and all the other cities where the blasts took place.

Why would a militant, an alleged ‘mastermind’, give his identification proof to the police?

However, his friends from Azamgarh may have been involved in unlawful activities. Atif recently finished his graduation from Manipal University and enrolled for a Human Resources course in Jamia University two months back.

Back home, I have no courage to speak to my traumatised mother. I am waiting for the police to hand over his body to me. We would rush to Azamgarh for the burial.
