Belgaum Rural is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Belgaum district. People of Belgaum Rural voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In 2018, the Belgaum Rural assembly seat had 2,32,440 registered voters, 1,18,057 were male and 1,14,364 were female voters. 0.8% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2018, 12 candidates were competing for Belgaum Rural assembly constituency seat. Belgaum Rural was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a one way contest with Indian National Congress's Laxmi R Hebbalkar comfortably winning the election defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay B Patil by a huge margin of 51,724 votes.
The top three candidates split 95.5% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Laxmi R Hebbalkar secured a total of 1,02,040 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay B Patil got 50,316 votes. Independent candidate Kinekar Manohar Kallappa bagged 23,776 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 55.3%, 27.3% and 12.9% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's Sanjay B Patil outperformed independent candidate Kinekar Manohar Kallappa by 1,335 votes.
