Sonakshi Sinha says dad Shatrughan wanted her to join police; she sent him 1st pic after landing cop's role in Dahaad
Shatrughan Sinha had told his friends that Sonakshi Sinha would become a police officer. She said after getting cop's role in Dahaad, she sent him first photo.
Actor Sonakshi Sinha has opened up about father-actor Shatrughan Sinha's reaction to her role as a cop in the upcoming series Dahaad. In a new interview, Sonakshi revealed that in her childhood Shatrughan Sinha would tell his friends that his daughter would become a police officer. Sonakshi has a special connection with police uniforms. She made her debut in Dabangg (2010) opposite Salman Khan who played a cop. She was also a part of Rowdy Rathore (2012) opposite Akshay Kumar, who essayed the role of a police officer. Now, the actor herself has donned the police uniform for her debut OTT series Dahaad.
In an interview with news agency ANI, Sonakshi said, "I was looking for a powerful character for a long time. It's a very interesting character. There are fun elements too. I have played such an important character after a long long time. Abhi toh dil dahaad dahaad kar raha hai... Dil dhadak raha hai. Par excitement mein. (The heart beats faster due to excitement) The show marks my debut on the OTT platform as well. For the first time, the audience is going to watch me in a long format series."
Speaking about Shatrughan's reaction, Sonakshi said, "Papa bohat khush hai. (Papa is very happy). When I was a child, Papa used to tell his friends, 'My daughter would be a police officer'. So after donning the uniform, I sent him the first photo and told Papa, 'I have fulfilled your dreams...' He is very keen to watch the show." Sonakshi has learnt bike riding, judo and action stunts for the drama.
Dahaad is created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar. It has been directed by Reema along with Ruchika Oberoi. The series also stars Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah in pivotal roles. Dahaad is all set to stream on Prime Video from May 12, 2023.
In the series, Sonakshi will essay the role of a police officer hot on the heels of a serial killer. She will try to solve a case where women are mysteriously found dead in public bathrooms.
