‘Will kick you out of Karnataka’: Risheekaa Ssingh slams Yash over nude scene, questions women's portrayal in Toxic

Kannada actor Risheekaa Singh criticised the Toxic trailer, questioning the representation of female characters, urging respect for women.

Filmmaker Geetu Mohandas' Toxic trailer received mixed reactions from the audience. While for some viewers it generated excitement, others trolled the film. Now, Kannada actor Risheekaa Ssingh has expressed her disappointment after watching the trailer, criticising the film's portrayal of women and the intimate scenes featuring its actors.

Risheekaa took to Instagram and shared a video in which she criticised Yash's nude scene and said, "Beauty is what truly suits a woman, but respect is what truly suits a man, my boy. Why did you have to drop your pants like that you absolute monkey? You have a wife waiting at home so what's the need for flirting with actresses? We certainly don't support this new business of yours at all. You have women in your own life, yet you come here acting tough and talking big. Show women some proper respect or we will surely kick you out of Karnataka." She ended the video by saying, "I am Toxic."

In another video, she added, "I want Kannada cinema to grow and reach an international audience. I am happy that a big film like Toxic is being made in Kannada and that a Bollywood actress is also part of it. But I did not like the way women have been portrayed in the trailer."

She further questioned the portrayal of women in Toxic and said, "There are five female actors in the film. Has even one of them been shown beautifully or in a complimentary manner? Why was Kiara Advani brought from Bollywood to be portrayed in such a manner?" She was referring to a dialogue in the trailer in which a woman is asked about her “rate”.

Yash's fans hit back

Yash's fans hit back at the actor. One of the comments read, "It’s obvious you’re making this video out of frustration." Another commented, "Madam, the director is a female, and you’re calling it male ego? You haven’t even watched the film. Please watch the full movie before commenting." Another wrote, "Wow, this woman! I watched Animal with my family. Where was this concern for women’s respect back then?"

Helmed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is a gangster drama starring Yash in a dual role, alongside Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara and Tara Sutaria in key roles. The trailer of the film features a violent showdown involving Yash's characters. Backed by KVN Productions and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on August 26.
