Nikki Sharma: Year-long wait was tough but worthwhile

Actor Nikki Sharma opens up about the difficult phase of waiting for the right project, facing rejections, and finally finding the role she was waiting for in the TV series Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti. She also mentions her brief stint in an OTT series and her current focus on work. As for her personal life, she says she is currently not looking for a relationship or dating anyone.

Actor Nikki Sharma believes waiting for a worthwhile project was one of the most tough phases of her life.

“I was home for a year, waiting for that one right project. It was difficult to face rejections as what I wanted to take up was not reaching me, it could be for many reasons. I have never been choosy in my career, because good characters were coming my way, but things don’t remain same always and as an actor we need to accept it,” says the Brahmarakshas and Sasural Simar Ka actor during her recent visit to Lucknow.

Sharma adds, “I was in a phase...ab aage kya. Whatever was being offered was pretty similar to what I had done. It was a tough decision on my part to wait as not getting to work does affect you adversely. Only I know how difficult it was for me.”

On her comeback on television and taking up an OTT series, she adds, “My hiatus worked in my favour and got me the role of protagonist in Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti. Finally, I got to play a character that I was waiting for. I did try OTT too and played a fun role of a teenager in Mind the Malhotras but it didn’t quench my thirst for acting. So, I had to wait a little more for this show to happen where it’s all about this couple’s story, a spin-off of a hit show.”

For now the actor wants to focus on work and feels rest everything can wait. “After much delay things are once again looking up for me. As far as my personal life is concerned, I’ll take a little more time to think on those lines. For now, I don’t have that kind of time to get into a relationship or date someone, so you can say I am single but not ready to mingle, at least for now.”
