Rahul Vaidya says he paid ‘heavy price’ due to friend’s betrayal during joota chupai: ‘Bada fatka laga’

Rahul Vaidya revealed how his own friend deceived him during the joota chupai ritual and joined hands with Disha Parmar’s side.

Singer Rahul Vaidya, in a media interaction after marrying television actor Disha Parmar on Friday, revealed that he was betrayed by his friend during the joota chupai ritual. As a result, he ended up paying a ‘very heavy price’, he said.

Rahul Vaidya tied the knot with Disha Parmar on July 16.

Joota chupai is a tradition in Indian weddings wherein the bride’s sisters, cousins and other female relatives steal the groom’s shoes and ask him for money or gifts in return. While Aly Goni kept Rahul Vaidya’s shoes safely, one of the singer’s friends was hand-in-glove with Disha Parmar’s side.

“Mere dost ne hi dhokha-dhadi kari mere saath. Hua kya, ki mera ek bhai hai Sunny naam ka. Toh Aly ne meri mojdi ekdum chupa ke rakhi thi, uske paas surakshit rakhi thi. Mere dost ne Aly ko bola ki woh mojdi mujhe de do aur yeh iski dost ke saath jaake bech diya usko (My own friend, Sunny, betrayed me. My shoes were safe with Aly, he had hidden them. But my friend asked Aly to give him the shoes and then he went and gave them to Disha’s friend),” Rahul told reporters.

He added, “Mere bohot ek bada fatka laga hai (I suffered a huge loss). I have paid a very heavy price for it. Aap uss zakhm ke upar namak na chhidke (Please don’t add salt to my wounds).”

On Friday, Aly took to Instagram Stories to share a video of Rahul and Disha from the wedding ceremony and could be heard saying in the background, “Joote chori hone nahi denge (I won’t let anyone steal his shoes).”

During his Bigg Boss 14 stint, Rahul realised his love for Disha. On her birthday in November last year, he went down on one knee on national television and asked her to marry him. She publicly accepted the proposal in February, when she went on the show as a guest in the Valentine’s Day episode.
