Oscar-winner Brie Larson is set to star in the central role.

Captain Marvel centres around the story of Carol Danvers, played by Larson, an Air Force pilot who gains powers after her DNA becomes fused with an alien’s after an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight. Avengers star Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury.

Mendelsohn worked with directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck in Mississippi Grind. The film is slated to hit theatres on March 8, 2019.
