Based on a report by news agency PTI, the accused, who is a native of Mayyanad in Kerala, had been living with his wife and daughter in the UK for the past four years.

The incidents came to light after the wife's friends informed her of intimate videos of her online while they were in the UK.

As per police, the wife warned her husband over the uploading of the videos, where she found that he had also performed sexual acts in the presence of their four-year-old daughter.

Following the incident, the couple returned to Kerala and the husband was told to go for counselling sessions.

The report adds that the husband also pushed for his wife to engage in "wife-swapping."

"She never agreed to it. He was an engineering dropout and had accompanied his wife to the UK. It appears that even after counselling, he continued with the alleged offences," said Advocate Prashanth V Kurup, who is representing the complainant, to PTI.

Despite the counselling, the wife found another video of the accused engaging in a sexual act in front of their minor daughter.

When questioned about the video, the accused allegedly assaulted his wife, which prompted her to file a police complaint.

The lawyer also alleged police lapses in the complaint and initial statement, following which the matter was taken to the Kerala high court.

"However, when we decided to approach the Kerala High Court, they expedited the investigation and arrested the accused," he added.

The accused, who went into hiding after the complaint, was traced and arrested on Monday. Police have registered a case under the relevant acts of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
