Bedi, who usually cycles around the town, accompanied by officials of Raj Nivas and others to meet the residents, dropped by Narayanasamy’s house this morning to wish him on the eve of his birthday.

When asked whether he was taken by surprise by Bedi’s visit, the Chief Minister remained tight-lipped at a press conference held later at the Committee hall in the territorial assembly.

He simply sported a smile without responding to the question by a scribe.

Bedi also called on Speaker V Vaithilingam at his residence situated a few blocks away from the house of the Chief Minister.

Later, Bedi tweeted that the cycle journey was to express gratitude to all officials and elected representatives on the day of her completing two years of service as Lt Governor.

Although Bedi had hosted a dinner at Raj Nivas last year for all legislators and officials, the entire team of Ministers including the Chief Minister boycotted it in protest against her ‘sustained non cooperative stand’ and ‘blocking’ vital decisions of the elected government.

Bedi has been at loggerheads with the government over a host of issues including medical admissions, civic problems and induction of three nominated MLAs, ever since she assumed office in 2016.
