Show inked finger to get free check-ups at ₹1 clinics for 6 months
Residents of Mumbai and Thane who plan to vote in the Lok Sabha elections can avail free check-ups at one-rupee clinics across the city for six months from April 29, the day both cities go to polls.
Dr Rahul Ghule, founder of the one-rupee clinic, recently announced that voters will get free consultancy, eye check-ups and blood pressure tests.
“Patients who visit the clinic after voting can show their inked fingers and register their names. They will then be given a receipt, on the basis of which, they can avail free treatment for six months,” said Ghule. The facility will be available at all branches in the cities – namely at Sion, Kurla, Chembur, Bhandup, Kalwa, Thane, Dombivli, Ambernath, Ulhasnagar and Titwala stations.
Additionally, voters will also get a discount of 15-50% on medicines from the medical stores attached to the clinics. “Discounts will range from 15% to 50%, depending on the type of medicines,” he said.
Residents have welcomed the move as it will encourage citizens to cast their votes. “I hope this will encourage maximum people to step out and vote,” said Madhavi Desai, 44, Dombivli resident.
