Eight candidates, including three women, filed their nominations on Thursday for elections to Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG).

Thursday was the first day of submitting nomination papers.
According to additional deputy commissioner VS Hooda, who is also the returning officer, two candidates each from ward no. 10 and 23 filed the nominations.
Hooda said that from four other wards, one candidate each has filed the nominations. The last date of filing nominations is May 2, he said.
The nominations will be accepted even on Saturday, but Sunday will be a holiday. He said that as per the programme issued by the state election commission, the candidates who remain in the fray on May 4, will be issued symbols by the assistant returning officers on that day. Gurgaon has 35 wards, out of which six are reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste, including two women. Apart from this, two wards namely ward no. 24 and 31 are reserved for backward class candidates and 10 wards are reserved for women from general category.
