Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has urged the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to adopt a multi-pronged approach and work at the grassroots level to eradicate all social maladies.
The Chief Minister was interacting with representatives from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC), Prayas and Meghalaya-based Impulse NGO Network (INN) in Itanagar last night, official sources said on Sunday.
Expressing concern over the drug menace among students and youths, Apang said every important functionary in the society, right from administrator to student leaders, should be involved in eradicating the drug menace and other social ills.
Calling for exemplary punishment to drug traffickers, he directed state Director General of Police (DGP) Amod K Kanth, who was also present at the meeting, to conduct random checking to contain traffickers. He also stressed on strict implementation of the inner line permit system.
