Air-hostess murdered by boyfriend: Police

Air-hostess Shilpa had been strangled to death by her boyfriend, Jayanth, a top police official said on Sunday.

Air-hostess Shilpa, employed with Jet Airways, who was found dead in her apartment with her boyfriend Jayanth, had been strangled by him, before he committed suicide by hanging, a top police official said on Sunday.

Talking to PTI, the official said it was clearly a case of Shilpa's murder followed by Jayanths' suicide, which could have been caused due to suspicion.

"Though she had been living with Jayanth, a call centre employee and son of a retired army officer from Haryana, for the past few months, she was friendly with several other men," the official said.

"The post-mortem reports of both the bodies have been obtained, which do not indicate any sort of poisoning. However, we are waiting for the viscera reports which are due in a couple of days time," he said.

While Shilpa's body was handed over to her parents from Bangalore on Friday last, Jayanth's parents who flew down from Delhi took his body to Haryana for the last rites on Saturday.

Initially, it was suspected that both had committed suicide.

The bodies of the duo were found lying in a decomposed state in Shilpa's apartment in suburban Tiruvanmiyur on Thursday last.
