The team, comprising seven faculty members and 11 students, was accorded a traditional welcome on their arrival here by students and teachers of the Department of Economics, Allahabad University.
During their visit, besides attending special lectures and visiting places of tourist attraction, the team members will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), paving the way for academic collaboration between AU and Montana State University.
After signing the MoU, AU and Montana State University will encourage co-operation in any discipline studied in both the institutions and seek to promote exchange of information and material, students and faculty-led programmes.
Both the institutions will also endeavour to assist each other in the development of their educational services, student services and support for international exchange students, community services and international activities.
The team, consisting of faculty members Dr Rakesh Sah (finance), Dr Abbas Heiat and Dr Nafi Heiat (information systems), Mike Campbell and Joanne Sheridan (accounting), Dr Mary McNally (management) and International Studies director Analicia Pianca, arrived in India on December 30.
Before coming to Allahabad, the visitors held academic discussions at University of Delhi and Jamia Millia University, besides touring Jaipur, Agra, Khajuraho and Varanasi.
Department of Economics, AU, has chalked out an interesting itinerary for the team members during their stay here till January 10.
Prof HN Mishra, Prof Vinay Pandey and Prof PN Mehrotra will organise a discussion on ‘Indian History, Geography and Economy’ for the guests on Sunday. This will be followed by a city tour and a dinner to be hosted by acting AU vice-chancellor Prof Janak Pandey.
On January 9, the visitors will attend a lecture on ‘Challenges of diversity and pluralism in modern India’ by Govind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute director Prof RC Tripathi followed by a talk on ‘Risk management in forex markets’ by Prof Rakesh Sah.
In the afternoon, UP lokayukt Justice SK Verma will deliver a talk on ‘Issues of governance in India society’ at AU’s North Hall.
On January 10, the delegation will be taken for a boat ride, at the Magh Mela venue and visit a village. In the afternoon, International Studies, Montana State University, director Analicia Pianca will speak on ‘Opportunities in American education system’ hosted by Prof Indira Mehrotra, chief of AU’s Employment and Guidance Bureau.
