Bedi’s princely stint
Actor Kabir Bedi has a special reason to see Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, one of the most anticipated Hollywood flicks of this summer. Bedi has done the dubbing for Sir Ben Kingsley’s character, Nizam, in the Hindi version of the film. Though he has given voiceover for commercials, corporate films and documentaries in the past, this is the first time Bedi is doing it for a Hollywood film.
“I was thrilled when Disney approached me to do the voiceover. Ben is a great friend. I’ve been to his home in Oxford and attended his wedding. I can’t mimic his voice, so I’ve just tried to capture the right feeling of the character,” he says. Considering Kingsley is planning a remake of Taj Mahal with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and himself in the lead roles, has Bedi been approached to play a part, too? “No I haven’t. I played Shah Jehan in Akbar Khan’s Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story, so maybe Ben wouldn’t want me in his film,” he says. “He’s still looking for finance for his film”
Though Bedi often shuffles between London, Italy and India, he maintains, “Though I am an international actor, but India is where the heart is.” Talking about his upcoming projects, he says, “I’ll soon be seen in Kites and I can say with certainty that this movie will not disappoint anyone. It’ll leave people craving for more. I’m also a part of Dunno Y, which an experimental film with Zeenat Aman. In that film, I play a tragic character. Then there’s an untitled film with Govinda. I’ll also be starting my own production soon.”
