On Wednesday, chief medical officer (CMO) got a call from the Chief Minister’s office to ensure pesticide spray and fogging at his official residence located on Kalidas Marg as well as another residence located on Vikramaditya Marg.

The ministers too demanded fogging and spray in their houses and localities.

These included Dr Ashok Bajpai, Kiran Pal Singh, Ahmed Hasan, Narad Rai, Sanjay Garg, Anuradha Chaudhary.

Bureaucrats residing in the localities, including Butler Palace, Gulistan Colony, Civil Services Institute, Dilkusha colony, Gautam Palli, Dalibagh and Gomti Nagar area have urged the CMO to organise spray and fogging of insecticide in their locality.

CMO Dr KK Singh is feeling the heat of VIP pressure so much that fogging machine of the District Malaria Department is moving from one posh locality to another emptying tons of insecticide in the drains and plantations to eradicate the killer mosquito.

Irony is that residents of downtown localities are falling victim to Dengue hemorrhagic fever. Cases of dengue have been reported from Chhota Barha, Pawanpuri , Kailashpuri, Saketpuri, Sirngarnagar in Alambagh, Anand Nagar located on Jail Road, Kaki Tola located near Akbari Gate, Gopapuri, Triveni Nagar, Manak Nagar, Sadar Bazar and Pandeyganj.

Dr Singh says spray and fogging have been held in areas from which cases of dengue had been reported. It’s the duty of the Lucknow Nagar Nigam to organise regular fogging and anti-larval work in urban areas. Singh said, in view of cases being reported in the city, we are not leaving anything to chance and fogging low lying areas in which water logging is common and are potential mosquito breeding areas such as Aashiana, Vikas Nagar, LDA colony and Triveni Nagar.
