Gandhi, addressing an election rally in Dimapur, alleged that BJP has caused communal tension in the NE states, where people had been living in harmony.

Offering a word of caution, she said people should not rally behind "communal forces like BJP".

The Congress leader expressed confidence that the party would form the next government in Nagaland as the S C Jamir government had provided a stable regime in the state for the past ten years.

"The Congress government in Nagaland provided a stable government bringing in peace and manifold changes to socio-economic life of people, particularly in rural areas by introducing democratic decentralisation process," she said.

Gandhi, accompanied by Congress General Secretary Mani Shankar Aiyer, later left for Mokukchong, where she would address another election rally.

Nagaland goes to the hustings on February 26, along with Meghalaya and Tripura.

Rival Nagaland People's Front also organised a rally at Mokokchung, a Congress bastion.
