CMO letters fail to wake up GMC

A letter was issued by deputy secretary to chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to the municipal corporation officials on June 14, 2005 to carry out development in localities under ward number 28.

But even after one year, the corporation officials have not yet made the estimate of the development work.

A corporator of the Samajwadi Party (SP) Manoj Kumar Singh urged the municipal corporation to carry out the construction work of the road near Ghasia Mosque, construction of drains in slum areas in Mewatipur and interlinking road at two places in his ward, but the municipal corporation official did not pay any attention to the demand. Then two letters was issued by the deputy secretary of chief minister to carry out the construction work on June 14, 2005 and on January 4, 2006, the deputy secretary sent a reminder to the municipal corporation officials but it failed wake up corporation officials who were in slumber.

Expressing his anguish at the situation, Manoj said that the case indicated the mal functioning of the municipal corporation officials and the plight of SP corporators and workers.

He said that when the directive of chief minister office did not have any value, you imagine the condition of SP workers.

Responding to a question, he had issued a reminder to the then administrator of municipal corporation and district magistrate Hariom inviting his attention to the work before the monsoon season. Hariom had directed the chief engineer to made the estimate of the work but the order was confined only to file.

Emergency prisoners
UPSET ABOUT the attack on the government and the party leaders by the opposition, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has stepped up its campaign to counter these attacks. The party has planned to organise a function to felicitate the prisoners of the Emergency, and the party will organise a state conference of all the political prisoners of the Emergency, on June 26, at Ravindralya in Lucknow. Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has given his consent to participate in the programme that will be presided over by freedom fighter Ram Naresh Kushwaha.
