In a statement Digvijay Singh said the BJP only knew how to mislead the tribals, who needed education, health, employment and share in power. But they had been neglected under the BJP government. The tribals did not have adequate participation in the BJP government and the organisation. None of the tribal leaders had been given important portfolio in the Cabinet, Singh added.

He said the Congress had not only given adequate participation to the tribals in its government but given them important portfolios also.

He said the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes people should realise that the BJP was holding Hindu Sammelans in the name of religion and exploited them politically. The fact remained that the lease rights granted to them on land were being snatched from them. The government had not paid any attention to their problem, he added.
