Five year imprisonment for SDM in bribe case

A local court in dehradun has sentenced a Sub-Division Magistrate (SDM) to five yearimprisonment in a bribery case.

A local court in dehradun has sentenced a Sub-Division Magistrate (SDM) to five year imprisonment in a bribery case.

Dehra Dun District and Sessions Judge Indira Aashish yesterday held Narayan Dutt Pande, the then SDM of Barkot inUttarkashi district, guilty of taking bribe and sentenced him to five year imprisonment. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.

Pande was arrested on May 23, 2005, by the state vigilance department on a complaint filed by Chander Singh
alleging that Pande demanded Rs 10,000 for disposing his property case.

Director of the Vigilance has also announced a reward of Rs 5000 to the Joint Director (Legal) of Vigilancedepartment R P Sharma, who successfully fought the case in thecourt.
