Four held for assault on RTI activist in Gujarat

Police on Saturday arrested four people in connection with the attack on an RTI activist.

Police arrested four persons on Saturday in connection with the assault of lawyer and RTI activist Bhagubhai Devani in Porbander on Friday.

"They have admitted their crime," said Nilesh Jajadia, SP, Porbander.

Devani has named local leader Babu Bokhiria and his men as the people behind the assault.

Devani has been fighting legal battles with Bokhiria, prime accused in the mining scam.

Bokhiria told HT "He has made politically motivated allegations."

Devani had also complained about a three star hotel coming up within the coastal regulation zone limit.

One of the four arrested, is the brother of Vikram Odedara who owns the hotel project.
