The CBI on Saturday recovered the revolver of slain DSP Zia-ul Haque, whose recent murder led to the resignation of UP minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh.

The CBI started the probe into the March 2 murders of Haque, gram pradhan Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh Yadav, all of whom were shot dead in Balipur village, 15 km south of Kunda town in Pratapgarh district.

The revolver was found, with all cartridges intact, in the village itself.

Earlier police had said villagers snatched Haque's revolver and fired on him.The probe team also claimed it found, from the same spot, empty shells of cartridges used to murder Nanhe Yadav.

However, a Balipur resident Chotey Lal told HT that Haque's revolver was instead found by some village boys.
