Finnish technology giant Nokia said on Wednesday it would launch up to ten new Symbian-based smartphones in India over the next 12 months.

The announcement dispels concerns that Nokia’s Symbain-based handsets could be immediately phased out in the country.
“We will continue to offer Symbian-based products at least till 2016,” said Viral Oza, director, marketing Nokia India.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a Nokia event where the company announced the launch of its two new handsets E6 and X7 based on the Symbain Anna — a newer version of the Symbian operating system.
