To counter former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's roadshow and his popularity, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Monday held a similar show in support of BJP candidate G L Bhargawa in an open jeep guarded by hundreds of security personnel here.

Raje, accompanied by Bhargawa, who was a member of the dissolved house, from Jaipur,first offered prayers at the Govind Devji temple and then moved with folded hands seeking people's support in the May 5 polls.

The walled city's markets were saffronised with party flags, posters, banners and hoardings depicting Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and his achievements.

At every 50 steps, she received overwhelming response as businessmen had erected platforms where the market associations leaders stood to garland Raje, who travelled in the jeep followed by a motorcade.

Gehlot had travelled on foot from one colony to another in and outside the walled city in searing heat for mass contact in support of P S Khachariawas, Congress candidate and nephew of the Vice-President B S Shekhawat, on April 28.
