'S Korea won't tolerate nuclear-armed North'

South Korea says it will not tolerate a nuclear-armed North in its first formal reaction to North Korea's nuclear test.

South Korea, in its first formal reaction to North Korea's announced nuclear test, said on Monday it would deal "sternly" with the issue and would not tolerate a nuclear-armed North.

"Our government will sternly deal with this in accordance with the principle that it will not tolerate North Korea's possession of nuclear weapons," said a statement read by presidential spokesman Yoon Tae-Young.
