Surfer's poem: Torn into pieces
Love was right round the corner, But both of us walked away from it, writes Alekhya Mandadi.
I woke up to a beautiful day,
With all snow on my window
I reached out to touch
your hand like always
I looked by the pillow
to see the white lilies,
That you get for me everyday
from our little garden
I thought you would at least
kiss me on my forehead
And whisper in my ear how much you love me
Like just another beautiful morning
But you weren’t there

I searched for you all morning
And realized it wasn’t that perfect morning
I ran across the street to find you
With nothing under my feet
It was another frozen morning
With snow all across the street
Everyone looked at the crazy girl
Shouting out her lover's name
I came back to an empty home which was once filled with love
With all tears running down my cheeks
I just then remembered we decided to part last night
I didn’t know how painful it would be until I woke up
I looked at myself in the mirror
My eyes looked hollow because I cried all night
I read all the love notes you wrote for me
I sang all the songs we sang together
I went to our favorite hiding place
Hoping that you would at least wait for me there
But I couldn’t find you anywhere except in my thoughts
Love was right round the corner
But both of us walked away from it
Now loneliness and I walk hand in hand
Hoping that you would come back someday
True love always wins come what may
I wait for you till the end of time
Hoping that you will be mine someday again
