The minister, who will leave for the US on June 20, will also spend the next day meeting UN officials, which will likely include United Nations secretary general Ban Ki-moon.

She is also expected to attend various other yoga events organised in the city the same day. This includes a session at the Times Square, one with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Lincoln Centre and another session at the Ganesh temple in New York.

Sources said the minister, who has the full support of her party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was going ahead with her usual schedule, which included a meeting with home minister Rajnath Singh and finance minister Arun Jaitley.

Sushma also flagged off the first batch of pilgrims for Kailash Mansarovar yatra in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China on Tuesday.
