Two children were burnt to death as a fire broke out on Monday, gutting 250 houses in a village under Ujiarpur block in Bihar’s Samastipur district.

The incident took place in Balrampur village of East Pataili panchayat as fire broke out in the kitchen of a house and spread to adjoining areas, gutting 250 houses, block development officer (BDO) Sanjeev Kumar said.

Guddu Kumar (8) and Doli Kumari (9) died in the fire, he said.

Rescue and relief measures have been initiated to help families affected by the fire, Kumar said.
