A battery of three fashion designers has been roped in to so far to do the trousseau for the high-profile wedding of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal’s daughter Vanisha with Delhi boy Amit Bhatia on June 22.

King of drapes Tarun Tahiliani has done the pale yellow lehnga for the doli night
on June 24, Sultan of embroidery Suneet Varma designs the wedding function outfits and Mumbai-based duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla will do the bridal outfits.
Lakshmi Mittal’s personal wealth is estimated at £3.5 billion, so it wasn’t a big deal of course. The brief the designers got was simple: Make it glamorous! And they did just that, in only three months.

“The colours I’ve worked with for the Mittal family range from blue and red to pink. We did several fabric developments to make it look special,” says Varma, who designs Vanisha’s outfits for the Sangeet, the Bollywood nite (where Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan will dance), and Mehndi. “Vanisha works out, so she is in great shape. She’s used to wearing the best and appreciates quality,” says Varma.

In designing Vanisha’s wedding outfit, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla have made sure that no stone is left unturned. “I also designed outfits for the wedding of Vanisha’s brother, Aditya, some years back. Indeed, it’s an honour to work with them again,” concludes Abu Jani.
