Good posture can instantly change how you carry yourself. Nutrition coach Sascha shares four easy exercises to open the chest and improve shoulder mobility.

Looking younger may not always be about skincare, makeup or expensive treatments. According to nutrition and health coach Sascha, improving your posture and opening up the shoulders can make a noticeable difference to how you carry yourself. Sharing a simple movement routine in her July 5 Instagram post, Sascha demonstrated a series of exercises designed to mobilise the shoulders, open the chest and encourage a more upright posture. Let’s take a look at her routine:

  • Arm swings – 50 reps: Swing your arms gently forward and backward in a controlled motion. This helps warm up the shoulders and encourages movement through the upper body.
  • Shoulder and chest opener – 50 reps: Move the arms in a way that opens the chest while drawing the shoulders back. The exercise is aimed at counteracting the rounded-shoulder posture that can develop from sitting for long periods.
  • Elbow pull-downs – 50 reps: Pull the elbows down and back towards the sides of the body, squeezing the upper-back muscles gently. This movement focuses on the shoulders and upper back while encouraging a more upright posture.
  • Shoulder rotations – 50 reps: Rotate the shoulders slowly and deliberately through their range of motion. This can help loosen stiff shoulders and improve shoulder mobility.

How the routine can help with posture and weight loss

Sascha described the routine as a way to work towards a more upright and confident posture, writing: “15 years younger visually if you have a royal posture.” While exercises cannot literally make someone 15 years younger, improving posture can change the way a person carries themselves and may create a taller, more confident appearance.

Alongside the posture routine, Sascha also spoke about her own weight-loss experience and her approach to helping others who want to lose weight without resorting to extreme measures. “And if you want to lose 10–15 kg without suffering, extreme dieting, or exhausting workouts — I understand you. I personally lost 22 kg, and I know exactly how it feels to struggle with weight and finally find a way that works,” she said.
