“The surgery is over and he is doing well,” a member of Dr Muffazal Lakhdawala’s team in Mumbai’s Saifee hospital said.

Jogawat is diabetic and weighs 180 kilograms, doctors, who had evaluated his condition on February 26, had said.

Earlier last week, Shobha De had tweeted a picture of Jogawat, with a caption saying ‘heavy police Bondobast’ during the Mumbai municipal elections.

Soon after, Dr Muffazal Lakhdawala, bariatric surgeon from Saifee Hospital, and his team evaluated Jogawat’s condition.

Neemuch SP Manoj Kumar Singh said though Jogawat is obese, he is dedicated to his duty and his investigations have often won praise from the court. “He also performed creditably during the rigorous Simhasta in Ujjain for a month,” the SP said.
