IIT-Bombay rises 17 places in QS world rankings, in top 200 list

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) has improved its position by 17 places in the 2019 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
The institute is placed at the 162nd rank, up from its 179th position last year, the rankings, which were released on Wednesday evening, revealed.
The rankings, by British higher education analysts QS, feature the 500 top universities in the world, based on a QS survey. A total of nine Indian institutes have made it to this list, led by IIT-B, which has an overall score of 48.2 out of 100.
Like last year, the Univeristy of Mumbai (MU) has featured in the 801-850 rank category.
The universities are ranked on parameters such as academic reputation, employer reputation, citation per faculty, faculty student ratio, international faculty and international students.
Of the six parameters, IIT-B has scored highest in employer reputation, with a global rank of 93.
Devang Khakhar, director, II-B, said: “The faculty and students are striving to excel in education and research. The increase in rank is a reflection of continuous improvement in all spheres of our activities.”
