Chavan welcomes Kasab verdict

Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan today welcomed the death sentence given to Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone gunman captured alive during the Mumbai terror attack.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Thursday welcomed the death sentence given to Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone gunman captured alive during the Mumbai terror attack.

"This was expected. I congratulate the police and the justice dispensing system," he said.

"Pakistan should cooperate with India on the issue of terrorism. I express the hope that they will do so."

Home Minister R R Patil said: "This is what we expected, and hoped for."
