Tutor arrested for harassing 19-year-old Malad student

The Malad police, on Saturday, arrested a 28-year-old tutor for allegedly harassing a 19-year-old student who refused to marry him.

The Malad police, on Saturday, arrested a 28-year-old tutor for allegedly harassing a 19-year-old student who refused to marry him.

The accused Riyazuddin Shaikh, is a class 10 dropout, but secured a job of tutoring class 12 students by faking his identity. In 2009, Shaikh fell in love with the girl, and proposed marriage. The victim, however, rejected his advances. “Shaikh threatened the victim with dire consequences if she refused to marry him. In November, he started sending the girl lewd messages,” said Manohar Harpude, sub-inspector with the Malad police. Shaikh was arrested on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation.
