Nitish asks DMs to ensure full safety and security at ghats

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed the DMs of all districts to take fool-proof security and safety measures at all 'ghats' where devotees would offer prayers to the sun god on occasion of 'Chhatha'.

Reviewing the ongoing preparations by the local administration with regard to the state's most popular festival 'Chhath', to be observed on October 24 and 25, at a high-level meeting here, Kumar said the work assigned to the officials for readying and sprucing up the ghats of rivers and ponds across Bihar must be accomplished within a couple of days.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav and top state officials, including Principal Secretary (Home) Amir Subhani and CM's Principal Secretary R C P Singh.
